Phishing emails, brute-force attacks, and other criminal ploys make anyone antsy who's got sensitive information stored on the Web. More and more, sophisticated cyber-attacks target businesses and organizations of all sizes.

For that reason, it's essential to take the online security of your company's data just as seriously as you would that of your personal information.

In our opinion, no one should use the Internet without a password manager, which we consider to be the easiest and surest way to securely stay on top of passwords. Most services offer specially designed plans and rates for businesses or organizations. Check out our reviews below to find out which programs get our stamp of approval!

Top 3 Password Managers for Businesses

When it comes to password managers, the sky is the limit, and most providers offer business plans of one form or another. These typically entail a fixed monthly price per user. Below, we've listed our top three picks specifically for businesses or organizations. In ranking all twelve of the services we assessed for this review series, we focussed on each's functionality or selection of features, as well as their pricing.

1.

Dashlane usually shows up near the top on all of our lists. Available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, the developer also offers great solutions for businesses. These plans provide all features that the regular premium version does, except for the free VPN, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue for companies.

The biggest highlight is likely the integrated ability to securely share passwords, as it enables teams to safely exchange account information when digitally collaborating with one another. Via the handy admin console, configuring individual guidelines is also made as easy as could be.

The provider offers two corporate rates, Team and Business: Single sign-on (SSO), that is to say, the ability to access Dashlane via a super-ordinate, one-time authentication code, is only offered to Business subscribers.

  • Easy to use

  • Security dashboard and access rights management

  • SSO for Business plan subscribers

LastPass: The All-Rounder

LastPass Password Manager

LastPass impressed us during our review thanks to its reliable autofill, solid array of features, and intuitive use. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the service also offers corporate users more of the same, including enhanced customization and more analytical tools than other password managers.

Via the user-friendly admin console, it's possible to fine-tune detailed password security settings and take advantage of the service's analytical tools. LastPass also lets you securely share passwords, notes, and other data sets with individuals or user-defined groups.

LastPass offers two business packages: Teams can be used by up to 50 people, whereas Enterprise is designed for larger companies. This offers SSO, advanced authentication options, 100 different guidelines (as opposed to the 10 offered in Teams), and some additional integrations. As such, Enterprise is one of the most feature-laden password managers for businesses on the market.

  • Plenty of settings and options

  • Easy password sharing

  • Enterprise package includes SSO and other advanced features

Keeper scores highly with individual users thanks to its detailed settings and configuration options for autofill. The service's corporate rates provide administrators with even more features to optimize password security across their entire organization.

All Business users receive their own Keeper vault. Beyond that, guideline administration, for generating activity reports or conducting security checks, is also included.

Enterprise subscribers are given even more tools: Along with SSO, these include automated team management and a developer API for backend password rotation and integration. It's also possible to sync with Active Directory and LDAP.

A few (at cost) extensions are also included, such as advanced reporting or warning features, as well as Cloud Security Vault, for saving important data remotely.

  • Plenty of settings and options for admins

  • Highly secure and user-friendly

  • Advanced features and SSO offered in the Enterprise subscription

Advantages of a Password Manager

Password managers offer a number of benefits, such as boosting security, productivity, and efficiency, while creating almost no disadvantages, apart from their cost.

Security

Your employees and coworkers are only human, and unfortunately, we aren't the best at creating sophisticated passwords. At work, you probably use the same easy-to-remember passwords that you do for private purposes; a birthday, a word and some numbers, etc. Maybe you save them in your browser, which while convenient, is anything but secure.

If any of the above applies to you, you've unknowingly created a number of avenues through which cybercriminals can attack you. Password managers create unique and nearly unbreakable passwords. If you integrate two-factor authentication, your data will be even more secure.

Saving Time

Using dedicated software to manage passwords across your organization can save precious time, giving your company an edge in terms of efficiency over the long run. Employees will only have to remember a single master password and, thanks to cross-device synchronization, can access their login information from practically anywhere. And rounding things out, your IT department will be thank you for not having to waste any more time on account recovery.
