Top 3 Password Managers for Businesses

Phishing mails, brute-force attacks and other criminal ploys keep anyone on their toes who's got sensitive information stored on the Web. Attacks are aimed at large companies as much as they are at the smartphones of individual people. That's why you should take the online security of your company's data just as seriously as that of your private information. In our opinion, no one should surf the Web and use its services without a password manager. That's why we recommend companies to find a way to protect and manage their many passwords. Most apps provide plans designed for businesses. Read our reviews to find out which ones we recommend.

Question: The reason your company shouldn't forgo the services of a password manager? Answer: They make processes within your company easier and even more efficient, without any real drawbacks (apart from the cost aspect).

Security

Your employees and coworkers are only human. And humans aren't the best at creating sophisticated passwords. At work, you probably use the same easy-to-guess passwords you use privately. Maybe you save them in your browser which might be convenient but isn't very secure. Those factors are all weak points hackers can exploit. Password managers create passwords for you and your employees. And those combinations are impossible to crack. Using two-factor authentication, your data can be protected even better.

Saving Time

Managing your passwords with software can save precious time for other things which in turn makes your company more efficient overall. Your employees only have to remember one password and, thanks to synchronization abilities, have access to their logins from multiple devices. Your IT department will be grateful to you for not having to waste any more time resetting your employees' passwords.

Acquiring a password manager for your business pays off. But what software fits your needs the best?

Top 3 Password Managers for Businesses

When it comes to password managers, there's a wide variety you can choose from, and most providers offer business plans. Businesses usually pay a fixed monthly price per user. The following article presents our three favorite password managers for companies. We looked at the functionality of the apps as well as their pricing structure.

One of the biggest criticisms we had when reviewing RoboForm was the lack of analysis and security tools in its already rather bare security center. The business version of the app provides administrators with more options. We also liked RoboForm Business's interface. When creating new groups, you can directly configure a user's rights; managing datasets is straightforward and intuitive. Of course users can share passwords securely.

RoboForm's business version includes all the features the subscription for private users has, from AutoFill to 2FA.

We already liked RoboForm's "Everywhere" package for private users. Its business version tops the ante and deserves its title as one of our top three password managers. RoboForm Business comes in four packages that are based on their user bases.

excellent

Dashlane is always featured in our lists. The software is available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android, and offers a great solution for businesses. Dashlane's business plan entails all the features the regular premium version has, though it doesn't come with the VPN function. But that isn't all too bad.

The secure password sharing function will prove useful to business, as it enables teams to securely share account information when working together on a project. Via the handy admin console, you can easily configure each user's rights.

Especially Dashlane's focus on user-friendliness and simplicity makes it a great option for smaller teams and companies. However, it also means that the app omits some monitoring features other providers like LastPass offer.

Despite some blemishes in its interface, LastPass excelled in our test with its very solid array of features and overly generous free version. Its business packages offer more personalization and analysis tools than other password managers. Via the user-friendly admin console, you can make detailed settings to your general password security and take advantage of various analysis tools. LastPass also lets you securely share passwords, notes, and other datasets with whole groups.

LastPass offers businesses two packages: The Teams package can be used by teams of up to 50 people; LastPass Enterprise is designed for larger companies.

Alternatives

When it comes to choosing the right password manager, more subjective criteria will always have a say. Maybe the ideal solution for your company is one of the many other password managers we tested but didn't include in this list. Pricing, features and ease-of-use can vary immensely from app to app.
