VAT Number Check: Validate EU VAT-ID

In the European Union, in the case of intra-community deliveries and services (deliveries and services to a company from another EU country), the valid VAT number of both companies must be stated on the invoice. You can use the EXPERTE.com VAT Number Check to check the validity of one or more VAT IDs.

We offer two ways to do this:

  • Check individual VAT ID
If you only need to check one ID, you can simply enter it in the field and press ENTER.

  • Check list of VAT IDs
If you need to check multiple IDs at once, please click Check List and then enter one ID per line.

Validation Process

We carry out the following steps to check the VAT ID:

  • Syntax check
We check whether the structure and length of the ID correspond to the rules for the respective country.

  • Database query
We ask the respective national database whether it is a valid VAT ID.

  • Results list
We compile the results clearly in a list. With a click on Export you can export the results as a .CSV file.

Frequently Asked Questions

How up-to-date are the results?

Each query is performed live and is not cached. The query therefore always reflects the current status of the database of the respective EU member state.

What does "Request failed" mean?

The EU Member States regularly update their databases. During this period, it will not be possible to answer questions for the country in question. As a result, the query will fail.
